Which Hans* are you looking for? The juvenile swot
and much too serious wise-guy? The naïve student of Philosophy, Literature
and Maths, who then became a Psychologist? The Cognitive Scientist who seems
to suffer from a quasi-schizophrenic variety of interests into theoretical,
applied and clinical issues? The experienced software reviewer and dilettant
programmer of various languages? The card-carrying emacs user, LaTeX afficionado
and Linux enthusiast, who nonetheless spends most of his days using MS products?
The spoiled resident of sunny Freiburg, temporary resident of Princeton, or
wind-blown doctoral student of Welsh sheeplands? The impeded cellist, who
has been missing his a-cord for quite a few years? The visionary investor
into bancrupt ebusinesses? The sweaty and sleepy early morning jogger? Or
the neighbour, tutor, friend, brother, or son?
As
I hope to have successfully eluded most attempts of categorization so far,
I won't commit myself to any particular description let's hope that
the question mark of this page's title is permanent. Nonetheless, I'll disclose
some aspects of myself throughout these pages and hope that your judgement
will be kind and favourable.

*:
In case you wonder about my name: My first name actually is "Hansjörg"
spelled with the Umlaut 'ö', which is pronounced like
the 'o' in 'work', properly transcribed as 'oe', and can be typed
on most keyboards by pressing Alt+148 (on the number key pad).
But as this seems to twist the tongues of English speakers in
peculiar directions and causes confusion in most electronic databases
my
friends in the US and UK usually just know me as "Hans"
or to avoid confusion with a multitude of proper Hansens
"hanz". You may use whichever you prefer as long
as you don't confuse me with someone else. And "Neth"
bears no relation to the Netherlands, as far as I'm aware.
